Work Development Orders

Work Development Orders (WDO) are a new way to help people who can’t pay their fines. If you are eligible for a WDO, you can clear your fines with activities instead of money. You can do unpaid work, counseling, courses or treatment programs.

You need to:
  1. Get a sponsor – Singleton Neighbourhood Centre Inc cannot sponsor you
  2. Agree to the activities you need to complete
  3. Complete your WDO hours
Once you start your WDO, any enforcement action against you, eg license restrictions or other sanctions, will be lifted.

You are eligible if you meet one or more of the following:
  • Receive a Centrelink benefit
  • Are in serious financial hardship
  • Are homeless
  • Have a serious addiction to drugs, alcohol or other substances
  • Have a mental illness
  • Have an intellectual disability
  • Have cognitive impairment (such as autism, brain injury or dementia)
