Hunter Region No Interest Loan Scheme

The overall aim of HR NILS is to provide families and individuals, who are on low incomes, with the opportunity to apply for a loan without the burden of interest charges or associated fees.

Singleton Neighbourhood Centre is an access agency that can provide assistance with applications for loans, we then forward all applications to the Hunter Region NILS team.
If you do not require assistance with the application, the online application form can be found at hrnils.snapforms.com.au/form/nils-online-enquiry-form

Advantages for HR NILS loans are:
  • They are without interest or fees but must be repaid within 18 months.
  • Borrowing money from other lenders may cost you a lot more in the long run through excessive interest and fees.
  • The HR NILS providers work with you to find the arrangement that works best.
  • Dealing with an HR NILS service is free and confidential.
  • Essential goods purchased with an HR NILS loan are brand new.

Some examples of the products you may purchase are fridges, washing machines, computers, televisions, furniture and car registration.
NILS loans cannot be used for rent, bills or debts, cash or holidays. Further information about eligibility and what you can purchase can be found at www.hrnils.org.au/nils-loan-purposes/

The repayment of the loan enables HR NILS to relend the money to other members of the community.

What do I need to do to qualify:
  • Identification – photo ID, concession card, Medicare card
  • 90 days of bank statements
  • Quote for the item/s you wish to purchase
  • Centrelink statement/pay slip
  • An appointment must be made – Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday 9.30 am – 2.30 pm if you cannot apply on line
  • All paperwork required (listed in NILS pack) MUST be brought to appointment
